Obituary of Shirley Anne Arsenault
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Summerset Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 of Shirley Anne Arsenault (Gallant) of Summerside, aged 78 years.
Shirley was born in St. Raphael, PEI to the late Wilfred and Eva Gallant (Bernard).
Beloved wife of Alfred Arsenault and loving mother of Kim (Dwayne) Inch, Stephen and Kevin all of Ontario. Also lovingly remembered by her 4 grandchildren Bethany (Sandy) McCaldon, Shayne Inch, Connor Inch and Zach Arsenault and her great granddaughter Hannah McCaldon. Survived by her brothers and sister Norman (Fran) Gallant, Will Gallant, Ethelene (Ed) Wyatt and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Robert (Bernice) Gallant, Rita (Lloyd) Clow, Lorraine (Doug) Goodheart, Irene (Henry) Surrette, John (Annie) Gallant and Doris (Tony) Arsenault.
Shirley’s care for children, near and far will never be forgotten. Shirley was a big supporter of World Vision and sponsored several children over the years.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday, March 6th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 p.m. Interment to take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Shirley’s memory can be made directly to World Vision or the Alzheimer’s Society. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
