Obituary of Alan Joseph DesRoches
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 of Alan Joseph DesRoches of Kensington, P.E.I., aged 68 years.
Alan was born in Summerside, P.E.I. to the late Adrien and Evelyn (Gallant) DesRoches. Loving father of Jolene (Brad) Wood, Trevor (Rachel), and Daniel (Jennifer). Cherished grandfather to Rylee, Brynn-Leigh, Cole, Chase, Callen and Kenzie. Survived by his brothers and sisters Thelma Hickey, Norma (Jimmy), Raymond (Dianne), Melvin (Pat), Austin (Anne), Kenneth (Marilyn), Nancy (Ivan) Gallant and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his sister Louise McCuley and brothers-in-law Al McCuley, Renold Gillis and Marty Hickey.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday January 19th, 2024 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Miscouche at a later date. Memorial donations in Alan’s memory can be made directly to the PEI Lung Association. Arrangements entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside, P.E.I.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
