Obituary of Arnoldus Cornelius van Vliet
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital on December 24, 2023 of Arnold C. Van Vliet of Summerside, aged 93 years.
Loving father of Helen (Marshall Clow), Marietta MacCormack, Arnold (Della), John (Arvilla), Mark (Catherine), Stephanie (Chris Wells) and Michelle. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Rachel (Joanasie), Andrew (Sarah), Paul (Christina); Jean (Dave), Andrea (Gary), Valerie (Ian), Christopher, Daniel (Ashley); Shawn (Jaime), Jason (Randi); Lauren (Michael), Jillian (Joshua), Adrienne (Justin); Eric (Jess), Kiersten (Marta); Sarah (Alex), Ian; Logan (Erin); twenty great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Survived by brother Nico and sisters Nel and Mien.
Predeceased by his wife Brigitta and infant daughter Judy; sons-in-law Ron Hughes, Trevor MacLean and Bruce MacCormack; two great-grandchildren in infancy; and seven brothers and four sisters.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Friday January 5, 2024 then to St. Paul's for funeral mass at 10:00 AM. Interment to take place at St. Peter's cemetery in Seven Mile Bay. Donations in Arnold's memory to St. Paul's Legacy fund or St. Peter's cemetery fund would be appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday, January 4 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
