Obituary of Arthur Donald Rayner
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PEI on December 3, 2023 of Arthur Donald “Don” Rayner of Summerside, aged 84 years. Don was born in Greenmount to the late Howard and Emily Rayner.
Beloved husband of Evelyn Rayner (MacNeil). Loving father of Donald (Mary) and Carolyn (deceased). Also lovingly remembered by two grandchildren Alysha (Ken), Christina and special GG to Alison and Oliver. Survived by his brothers and sisters Ronald, Belle (Alton), Gary (Eleanor), Carl (Mary-Lynn), Hazel and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brother Allison and sister-in-law Cecile.
Don was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces from 1959 until 1992 when he retired from CFB Greenwood at the rank of warrant officer. Don was also an avid outdoorsman who was at his happiest on the pond with a fishing rod in his hand. He will be missed.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd, Summerside. By personal request there will be no visiting hours or funeral service held. Interment to take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Memorial donations in Don’s memory can be made to the Summerside Salvation Army.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
