Obituary of Robert William MacLeod
It is with profound sadness that the family of Dr. Robert (Bob) W. MacLeod announce his passing at the Prince Country Hospital in Summerside, Prince Edward Island on November 15, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. He fought a brave fight to the end and approached every day with profound optimism that he shared generously with those around him.
He was a loving and devoted husband to Dorothy (nee Watson) for 66 years and an incredible father to Margi (Peter) Kean and Bob (Susan) MacLeod. He was also an exceptionally proud and supportive Grampy to Iain MacLeod (Ottawa), Leslie Kean (Berlin), Sarah (Jack Litton) Kean (Calgary) and Meghan (Justin) Neil (St. John’s) and Great-Grampy to Lillian and Patrick Neil (St. John’s)
Bob was born on December 26, 1933, in St. John’s, NL where he lived before moving to Halifax, Nova Scota to attend Dental School at Dalhousie University. After graduating in 1958 he practiced dentistry in St. John’s, NL before moving to Corner Brook, NL in 1961 where he worked and lived for over 40 years. In 2002, he moved to PEI where he spent his retirement years.
Bob had an insatiable desire and capacity for learning and enjoyed sharing what he had learned with anyone who took the time to listen. He loved a good story or joke and his ability to share both brought laughter to many people. It is hard to believe that there won’t be “just one more”.
Bob also had a lifelong passion for music and was involved in many community groups throughout his life. He connected with people everywhere, playing in dance bands during his early years, the CLB band, and many community bands and was keen to share his passion for music at every opportunity. He also loved many outdoor sports, especially skiing, and passed along his love for those activities to his children and grandchildren. Marble Mountain will always be a special place for the family because of him.
Many thanks for the care he received at the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre, the Palliative Home Care Team, Staff of the Prince Country Hospital and especially, Susan Doucette, Dr. T. Stewart, Dr. N. Arsenault-Samson, Dr. T. McDonell and Dr. R. Muttart.
Cremation to take place at East Prince Funeral Home and celebration of life service will be announced later.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
