Obituary of Steve Keith Anthony DeCoste
The death occurred at Summerset Manor on Friday October 27, 2023 of Steve (Keith Anthony) DeCoste "CD" at the age of 84.
He grew up on Farrell Street in Dartmouth N.S. and would recount many stories of playing with his buddies and what shenanigans they could get into. He was a very proud member of the military, with a career that spanned over 37 years. He and his family had the opportunity to call Beaverlodge, Ottawa, Val d’Or, Greenwood, Cornwallis, and Shearwater home over the years. One of the postings he was most proud of was in Lahr, Germany. Last, but not least he had the opportunity to carry out a tour in the Gholan Heights.
Time enjoyed when not at work was around playing the guitar, woodworking and travelling. In particular, he enjoyed cracking a joke and making all those around him feel at ease instantly. He loved recounting stories of boot camp as a “youngin Decoste” and he could take the most mundane situation and turn it into a story…quite often with a comedic punch line!
Nothing tickled him more than to be a great dad to his two children, Steve, and Kristine. He was equally proud to be an awesome “Poppy” to Steven and April (Schwanz).
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. His ashes to be scattered over the water near where he grew up in Dartmouth.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
