Obituary of Edythe Lillian Smith
With sadness the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing at the Prince County Hospital Palliative Care Unit on September 25, 2023, of Edythe L. Smith, age 94 years. Widow of the late Emmett Smith of Central Bedeque who passed away on August 7, 1981. She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Mary (Riley) Clark.
Mother of Donald (Annie Marie) of Bedeque, Catherine “Cathy” (Lowell) Croken of Loyalist Road, Paul of North Bedeque, Wayne (Alma) of Travellers Rest, Desmond (Jo-Ann), Simeon (Phyllis) and David (Alana) all of Central Bedeque. Loving Nanny to eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant son Joseph, brother Harold Clark and sister Helen Rayner. Special thanks to the staff at Prince County Hospital Emergency and Palliative Care for the exceptional care provided.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Road until Friday September 29th, 2023, then to St. Malachy’s Church, Kinkora for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Donations in Edythe’s memory may be made to Prince County Hospital, Palliative Care. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4 – 6 p.m.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
