Obituary of Rita Marie Josephine Arsenault
The death occurred peacefully at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown PEI on June 22nd, 2023, of Rita Marie Josephine Arsenault of Charlottetown.
Aged 84 years at the time of passing, Rita was born in Mont-Carmel, Prince Edward Island, to the late Jaddus and Catherine (Caissie) Arsenault. Mother of Peter, Carole Anne, Robert, Elizabeth Anne, and Dawn. Predeceased by brother Marc, sister Irene Cormier, and brother Norman, who died in infancy.
Rita was unwaveringly independent. Always kind and thoughtful to grandkids, nieces, and grandnieces. An avid reader, often consuming a novel (English Authors favored) in a day or two. Also, a first-rate NY Times Crossword puzzle solver. Rita worked 28 years at the Sacred Heart Home in Charlottetown, making numerous friends, providing loving care for elderly patients, and bringing home daily stories of joy, laughter, and melancholy. A long serving member of Friends of Confederation Centre Library, and volunteer at the local Food Bank. Rita enjoyed monthly movies at the City Cinema and daily conversations with long-time cherished friend Carol Mackinnon.
Special thanks to Rita’s nieces, Yvette (Allen) Gallant, Christine (Peter) McNeill, and Gloria (Rheal) Arsenault. Also, Dr. Jason Thompson, Jill Scott (PEI Housing), Susan Curley (Social Worker), Carol MacKinnon, and East Prince Funeral, for all the kindness and support.
