Obituary of Alexander Hotton
The death occurred peacefully at O’Leary Community Hospital, O’Leary, P.E.I. on Saturday May 20th, 2023 of Alexander “Alex” Herman Hotton of Summerside P.E.I. and formerly of Gaspe, Quebec, aged 77 years. Alex was born in Aberdeen, Scotland to the late Herman and Betty (nee Reid) Hotton.
Beloved husband of his first wife, Lorraine (nee Drennan) Hotton and his second wife, the late Patricia (nee Marshall) Hotton.
Loving father of Elizabeth “Liz” Hotton of Kensington and Larry Hotton of Summerside and step-father to David (Josie) Hotton and Tim (Nancy) Hotton all of Ontario. Also remembered by his granddaughter Trisha Hotton of Newfoundland and special cousin Phillip (Lorraine) Hotton of Alberta.
Besides his parents and his second wife, Alex was predeceased by his grandson Christopher Hotton. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Road, Summerside.
By personal request there will be no funeral service or visiting hours held. Interment to take place in People’s Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Memorial donations in Alex’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
