Obituary of Barbara Margaret Blacquiere
Babs was born on April 15th, 1929 in Souris, P.E.I. to her late parents Mabel McDonald and her stepfather John McGilvery. Beloved wife of the late Gerald “Jerry” Blacquiere and loving mother of Pat (Daniel) Beauchesne of Schurman’s Point, Barbara (John) Wood of Borden-Carleton, Karen (Les) Smith of Rocky Point, Derrick (Darlene) Blacquiere of Central Bedeque and Carol Murphy (Joey) of Stratford. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Maria Dawn, Jean Marc, Melissa, Vanessa, Olivia, Andrew, Benjamin, Jordan, Amber, Grace, MacKenzie, Sarah, Jessica and Jade. Will be missed by her great grandchildren Bailey, Ayden, Drake, Xander, Braeden, Landon, Wesley, Sadie, Olivier, Noah, Pacey, Arie, Genevieve, Margaret, Harper, Negan and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by her cousin Arthur (Brenda) Ranahan of Borden.
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Prince County Hospital, Summerside PE on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 of Barbara “Babs” Margaret Blacquiere of Borden - Carlton P.E.I. and formerly of North Carleton.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday April 5th, 2023 then to St. Peter’s Church, 7 Mile Bay for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.
Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Babs’ memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
