Obituary of Phillips, Richard Colin
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Wednesday, August 17th, 2022 of Richard “Dick” Colin Phillips of Summerside, aged 83 years. Dick was born in Sudbury, Ontario, to the late Richard and Germaine (Wright) Phillips.
Beloved husband of Janet (Aitken) Phillips and loving father of Ronna (Gerard) MacCormack and Stuart (Krista) Phillips. Also lovingly remembered by his 5 grandchildren Richard, Michael, Robert, Bryson and Minnie.
Survived by his sisters Ethel Wennick and Trudie (Gordon) Jesseman, brother’s in-law Ron and Bryce Aitken and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Ron Phillips, mother and father in-law Donald and Minnie Aitken, brother in-law Len Wennick and sister in-law Eliza Aitken.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday August 22nd, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Dick’s memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
