Obituary of Cormier, Frederick Joseph
?Cormier : The death occurred suddenly at the Prince County Hospital,Summersideon Sunday, February 13th , 2005 of Frederick Joseph 'Tookie' Cormier of the Miscouche Villa and formerly of 348 Second St. Summerside , aged 73 years.He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his sons Richard and Raymond of Ontario and their mother Shirley and by his grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Clarence and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Amos and Mary Jane ( nee DesRoches ) Cormier, his step-father Jeff Gallant ,his brothers Edward, Ernest and Raymond and by his sister Rita Kelly. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road Summerside until Thursday, then to St. Paul's Church for funeral mass at 2:00 PM. .Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery at a later date . Memorial donations in Tookie's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. . Comrades of George R. Pearkes, V.C . Branch # 5 , Royal Canadian Legion Summerside will hold a service of remembrance for their late comrade on Wednesday evening at 6:45 PM at the funeral home. In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
