Obituary of DesRoches, Joseph Urban
?DesRoches : The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Thursday, March 17th, 2005 of Joseph Urban 'Rosie Day' DesRoches of Kelly Dr., Miscouche,aged 74 years. Beloved son of the late Thomas & Clementine ( nee Fougere ) DesRoches. Loving brother of Lillian Gallant,Percy ( Margaret ) DesRoches and Clara Rushton, all of Miscouche. Also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by the following brothers and sisters: Daniel , Mathilda 'Tillie' Perry, George, and Tillie and Alfred in infancy. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for funeral mass at 10:30 A.M.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in
Urban's memory to St. John the Baptist Church Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday evening only, 7 - 9 P.M..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
