Obituary of Cormier, Alma Anne
Cormier: With great sadness,the Cormier family announces the death of a
dear wife and mother, Alma Anne Cormier (nee Arsenault) aged 79 years. She
died peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Sunday, June
5th ,2005 surrounded by her loving family. Alma will be sadly missed by her
loving husband of 59 years, Joseph H. Cormier and her 13 children: Norman
(Lois), Summerside, Clarence (Pauline), Miscouche, Doreen, Fredricton, N.B.,
Elmer, Balmoral N.B., Edward, Bowmanville Ont., Roma (Lloyd), South West Lot 16,
Earl (Brenda), Belmont, Laura (Chisholm MacKinnon), Dartmouth, N.S., Elvin
(Tammy Allen), Beaverbank N.S., Lorne (Karen), Freetown, Janet (Greg)
Fielding, Montague, Brian, Moncton, Roger (Kim), Cornwall, and 22
grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren,. She is also survived by her sisters
and brothers: Rita Gallant, Louise (Frank) Hammond, Corinne (Ben) Gaudet,
Abel (Gloria Barton),Cecile Pineault, Rose (Peter) Arsenault, Robert (Patricia),
Ernest (Judy)and sister-in-law Huguette Arsenault and brother-in-law Gus Gallant along
with a number of extended family members. She was predeceased by her
parents Fidele and Catherine (Maddix) Arsenault, her sister Thelma Gallant,
her brother Antonin and one in infancy. Resting at the East Prince Funeral
Home 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Wednesday, then to St. Paul's
Church ,Summerside for funeral mass at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Paul's
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers as an expression of sympathy the family would
appreciate donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or to a charity
of your choice. Visiting hours Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9. St. Paul's CWL will hold a
prayer service at 4:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home for their late sister.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
