Obituary of Gunning, Ethel Mae
Gunning : The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor Summerside on Wednesday, June 22nd , 2005 of Ethel Mae Gunning ( nee Smith ), aged 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Stanley Gunning. Loving mother of John ( Beverley ),Shirley Bernard , Donald ( Debora), and James all living in Summerside . Also lovingly remembered by her 9 grandchildren, her 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by her sister Velma Rayner of S'side, her brother-in-law Paul Young of Calgary, Alta., sister-in-law Hazel( John ) Quigley of Carleton Siding and her son-in-law Allan Phillips of S'side. Predeceased by her daughter Eleanor Phillips and her sisters Blanche Reeves, Freda Gunning, and Pearl Young. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday for funeral service at Trinity United Church, Summerside at 11:00 A.M. . Interment to take place in People's Cemetery,Summerside. Memorial donations in Ethel's memory to the Alzheimer Society of P.E.I. would be greatly appreciated. ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
