Obituary of Gallagher, Joseph Patrick
The death occurred suddenly at the Prince County Hospital Summerside on Tuesday, November 8th , 2005 of Joseph Patrick Gallagher of Searletown, aged 62 years. Joe was born in Sydney, N.S. on May 25th , 1943 to his parents , the late Patrick & Emily ( nee Rose ) Gallagher and was in his 25th year as a Volunteer Fireman with the Borden-Carleton Fire Dept..
Beloved husband of Audrey ( nee Gallant ) Gallagher. Loving father of Shelley ( Andrew McCourt ) of Kinkora and Darlene ( Anthony McCourt ) of Albany. Also survived by his sisters Mary ( Buddy )Wall of Sydney, N.S., Catherine Fraser of Toronto, Ont., Lucille ( Ron ) Hembrought of Surrey, B.C. and his brothers Johnny Gallagher and Greg ( Dessie ) of Toronto, Ont. along with several nieces and nephews
Predeceased by his sisters Cecelia ( Earl ) Bennett and Claire Gallagher and his brother Gerald ( Ruth ) Gallagher.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday for funeral mass in St. Peter's Church, Seven Mile Bay at 10:30A.M. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery .Memorial donations in Joe's memory to the Borden-Carleton Fire Dept. or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Friday , 2 - 4 and 7 -9 P.M. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
