Obituary of Andrew, William " Ben " Benjamin
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Tuesday, November 15th , 2005 of William Benjamin 'Ben' Andrew of 236 South Dr., St. Eleanors , aged 90 years. Ben was born in North St. Eleanors on July 2nd , 1915 to his parents , the late Horace and Amelia ( nee Tanton ) Andrew and was a highly decorated Veteran of the Second World War and a founding member of St. Eleanors Lions Club, where he became the club's first King Lion.
Loving husband of the late Violet ( nee Bennett ) Andrew and dear father of Donna ( Michael ) Martin of B.C., Jim of Stanley Bridge, Debbie ( Bob ) Burke of B.C. and Karen ( Wayne ) Conrad of Stratford, P.E.I. . Also predeceased by infant son Dale. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Tara Martin, Bronwen Hogan, Alexis Clements, Benjy Andrew, Kevin, Shawn, Sheila and Ryan Burke, Jennifer and Stephen Conrad. Also survived by seven great-grandchildren and his second wife , Sadie Thompson and her family Pauline Muttart, Larry, Don and Ron Thompson.
Predeceased by his siblings Kay MacDonald and Art & Alice Brant.
Comrades of the George R.Pearkes, V.C. Branch # 5, Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 P.M. at St. John's Anglican Church, St.Eleanors , immediately followed by a Memorial Service at the church. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. No visiting hours by personal request. Memorial donations in Ben's memory to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
