Obituary of Gallant, Joseph Theodore
?The death occurred peacefully, with family at his side, at the Prince County Hospital on Friday January 13th 2006 of Joseph Theodore 'Ted' Gallant of 474 MacEwen Road, Summerside, aged 92 years.
Beloved husband of the late Julia (nee Arsenault) Gallant. Ted was born in Abram's Village on January 14th , 1913 to his parents, Aubin and Jeanne (Poirier) Gallant.
Loving father of: Leroy (Natalie) of Summerside, Amanda (Ron) Rolls of Yellowknife, Mel of Charlottetown, Vera (Frank) Giesbrecht of B.C., Janet (Andre) Brochu of La Plaine, Que., Vince of Alberta, Paula Williamson and Victor of Summerside. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and , 6 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Jeanne (Felix) Arsenault, Norman, Alfred (Louise), Leo, Leona (Adolphe) Richard, Matt, Eliza (Euclid) Gallant, Eric (Anna) and Paul (Theresa), his sister-in-law Cecile Gallant and by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by wife and his son Richard and by his sisters Nelida (Leo) Gallant, Aline (Adelard) Richard, his brothers Amand and Edgar and his sister-in-law Stella Gallant.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30AM. Interment to take place later in St. Paul's Cemetery. Memorial donations in Ted's memory to St. Paul's Cemetery Fund or to the P.E.I. Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours Sunday 2-4 and 7-9.PM. Members of Dr. W.E. Callaghan Council 2070, Knights of Columbus, will hold a prayer service at the funeral home at 3:45 PM on Sunday for their late brother.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
