Obituary of Burke, Vernon Charles
Burke : The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Thursday, February 16th, 2006 of Vernon Charles Burke of Andrew's Lodge, Summerside, aged 79 years. Vernon was born in Charlottetown on April 7, 1926 to his parents , the late Charles Leslie and MaryAnn (Gallant) Burke. He is a veteran of WW 2 and the Korean War.
He is survived by his sister Jan Blacquiere of Ontario and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Francis Burke and by his sisters Shirley Clow and Winifred Bulger.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, for funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 A.M.. Interment to take place at a later date in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside.
Memorial donations in Vernon's memory to the Palliative Care Unit at Prince County Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday, 2 -4 & 7 -9 P.M. Comrades of George R. Pearkes VC Branch #5 Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance at 6:45 PM on Sunday at the funeral home for their late comrade.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
