Obituary of MacDonald, Wilfred James
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Sunday , July 9th , 2006 of Wilfred James MacDonald of Summerside, aged 78 years. Veteran of World War II . Wilfred was born in Brae, P.E.I. on August 3, 1927 to his parents, the late David MacLean & Pauline ( nee Allan ) MacDonald .Beloved husband of the late Lorretta MacDonald ( nee Cahill ) .
Loving father of Barbara MacDonald of Kensington, Frances & Kevin Cole of Saint John, N.B., Wayne & Marion MacDonald of West Devon, Marjorie MacDonald ( Barry DesRoches ) of S'side, James ( Karen ) MacDonald of Lethbridge Alta., Charles & Helen MacDonald of Calgary, Alta. , Eric MacDonald of New York, David Henderson of New York, Gina Rolgaski of New Jersey, Jacqueline ( Chris ) Mayne of New London and Bernadette Marjoram of New York. Also survived by the children's mother Jean ( nee Costain ) MacDonald of S'side and lovingly remembered by his 40 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, one sister and several nieces & nephews.
Besides his wife , he was predeceased by his daughter Roseletta MacDonald and by one brother .
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home,245 Pope Rd.,Summerside until Tuesday, then to St. Paul's Church, S'side for funeral mass at 2:30 P.M. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery . Memorial donation's in Wilfred's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday evening only, 7 - 9 P.M. .
Comrades of the George R. Pearkes, V.C. Branch # 5, Royal Canadian Legion , Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance on Monday evening at 6:45 P.M. at the funeral home.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
