Obituary of Blacquiere, Colby James
?Blacquiere : The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital,
Charlottetown on Thursday, July 27th , 2006 of Colby James Blacquiere of 378
Hawthorne Ave., S'side, aged 2 months. Colby was born in Charlottetown on May 6, 2006 to his loving parents, Craig and Jamie (O'Very) Blacquiere. Dear twin brother of Brody and little brother of Kaleb O'Very. Dear grandson of Karen and Dale O'Brien and James and Irene Blacquiere and great grandson of Reggie Blacquiere and Duncan MacKenkrick. A private funeral service was held on Saturday July 29th at St. Paul's Church. The service was conducted Father Brian MacDougall. Readings were read by Jody Coyle and Donna MacKendrick. Father Brian proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily and led the prayers of intersession. Soloist Sara Brown sang 'All You Who Seek A Comfort Sure' and 'The Lord is My Shepard'. Organist was Jennifer MacDonald. Flower Bearers were Mitchel and Jordon MacKendrick and Luke and Matt Slaunwhite. Pall Bearers were Darren Reeves, Scott and Bruce MacKendrick and Adam Blacquiere. Interment took place in St. Paul's Cemetery , Summerside with Father MacDougall officiating. Memorial donations in Colby's memory to the Neo-Natal Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
