Obituary of Folland, John Earland
?Folland : The death occurred suddenly and peacefully at the Victoria General
Hospital, Halifax, N.S. on Wednesday, August 2nd , 2006 of John 'Jack' EarlandFolland of 401 Willow Ave., S'side, aged 62 years. Jack was born in Summerside on August 18th , 1943 to his parents the late Ira and Iris (Oatway) Folland. Jack is survived by his common law wife Shirley Dickinson, his sons Darcy, S'Side and Stacey, North Bedeque, his step-children: Donna S'Side, Tyler, Dartmouth, Tina, Mount Uniac, Blair, Sackville, Judy and Cathy of S'Side. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Drake and Dallas, and his step-grandchildren: Tracy, Kelli, Sheena, Amber, Candace, Jerika, Alexis and Blair. He was the loving brother of Edna (Ivan) MacDonald, Bedeque, Shirley (Gordon) Ginge, Chelton, Rolla (Joseph) MacKenzie, New Annan, Linda Hunter, Baltic, Judy (Gorden) Winchester, Wilmot Valley, and Debbie (Gary) Clow,
New London. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Preston Hunter, his daughter-in-law Kim Folland, his half-brother Percy Folland, his nephew Gary MacDonald and his niece Wendy MacDonald. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road Summerside, until Saturday for funeral service at the funeral home chapel at 2:00 P.M. Visiting hours Saturday 9:00-12 Noon. Memorial donations in Jack's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a society of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Interment will take place in People's Cemetery, Kensington. Arrangements entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
