Obituary of Gallant, Cecil Wilfred
Cecil was born September 23, 1960 in Summerside, P.E.I. to Joe T. and Alice (Gallant) Gallant passed away April 12, 2021. Loving husband of 37 years to Tammy (Young) Gallant. Loving father of Deanna (Ian Slim) of Barrie, Ontario, Rebecca Gallant (Jerron Mastenbroeke) of Kensington and granddaughter Angelika Tammy Melissa Mastenbroeck.
Special pet Lizzie, brother of Paul (Diane) of Guelph, Ontario, Dennis of Belleville Ontario, Bev (Kent Marchbank) of Long River, P.E.I., Victor of Tottenham Ontario, Elsie (Dave Waddell) of Summerside, P.E.I. and Tania (Stephen Paynter) of Cape Traverse, P.E.I. Father in-law Luben Young of Mill Cove, N.S., mother in-law the late Patricia (Houge) Young, brother and sisters in-law Bonnie Young, Velvet Young, Firman Young and Allan Young all of N.S., God daughter Krista Gallant of Charlottetown, P.E.I., April Kennard daughter of dear friend of Cecil and Tammy's, special childhood friend of Cecil's family Karen McGee of Ottawa, Ontario, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Special friends who were so helpful to Cecil and Tammy always but especially during Cecil's illness Mavis Burrell and Gerald Southam, special friends Dale and Patty Creghton, Brian and Lisa Greenan and family, Katelin and Jordan LeClair all of P.E.I., Tom and Lori Donnahee and B.J. and Terry Rutherford all of N.S. Special friends of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia who supported them during Cecil's illness though they could not be present. Also some terrific friends they enjoyed time with in sports they both so loved hockey, dart and Cecil with his street hockey friends. Cecil and Tammy both loved watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and attending Western Capital Games together. Cecil and Tammy were always quick to help family and friends having corn boils every summer in their yard inviting so many as well as opening their home to family for Christmas function, baby showers etc. Cecil from an early age was an Air Cadet and then he entered the Military, retiring 30 years later. He made many lifelong buddies during his time in the Military. Then he moved home to P.E.I. with his wife, where he worked at the Mussel Plant, McCain's and then P.E.I. Bag Company.
Cecil was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Cecil Gallant and Veronica (Doucette) Gallant/ DesRoches, his maternal step-grandfather Peter J. DesRoches, paternal grandparents Theodore and Denise (Arsenault) Gallant.

The family would like to thank all who helped to say good-bye to a man we so loved and will never forget or stop missing.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. A private funeral service will be held. Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery. Memorial donations in Cecil's memory can be made directly to Canadian Cancer Society.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
