Obituary of Doucette, Joseph Gerard
?Doucette: The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Saturday , December 30th , 2006 of Joseph 'Gerard' Doucette of 392 Notre Dame St. Summerside and formerly of Central Bedeque and Clinton, aged 78 years. Gerard was born in Tignish , P.E.I. on February 9, 1928 to his parents, Joseph Emmanuel and Melvina (Perry) Doucette. Beloved husband of Elsie ( nee Dunphy ) Doucette and loving father of Peggy (Kevin) MacIntyre, Grand River and Gerry (David) Buchanan, O'Leary and grandfather of Malcolm, Kyla, Mark, Tyler and
Christina and great-grandfather of Dontay.
Survived by his sisters Dorothy Arsenault and Margaret Gallant of Summerside. Besides his parents Gerard was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Clarence Arsenault and Joseph Gallant.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home Chapel, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, then to St. Paul's Church for funeral mass at 10:30 A M . Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside. Memorial donations in Gerard's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
