Obituary of DesRoches, Urban Joseph
DesRoches : The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Wednesday , February 14th , 2007 of Urban Joseph DesRoches of 110 Lady Slipper Drive, Miscouche , aged 91 years. Urban was born in Miscouche, P.E.I. on September 18, 1915, the last surviving member of the family of Joseph Emmanuel and Emilienne (Poirier) DesRoches.
Beloved husband of Mary (nee Bernard) DesRoches and loving father of Emily (Cecil) Ramsay, S'Side, Flo (Claude) Gaudet, S'Side, Julia (Claude) Albert, Miscouche, Anita Greenway, Port Elgin, Ont., John (Bernie), Miscouche, Cecilia (Norman) Desautles, Sherbrooke PQ, Olive (Gerald) Allain, Miscouche, Stella (Marcel) Arsenault, Wellington, Marcelle (Rene) Tremblay, St, Nicholas, Marie (Gil) Rouleau, Miscouche, Wilbert (Patti) Miscouche, and Wilfred (Linda), Linkletter Road. Urban is also lovingly remembered by numerous grandchildren
and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his son Bernard (infancy), his brothers Theodore and Augustine, his sisters Anna DesRoches, Sister Dena (Grey Nuns), Philonese Poirier, Lumina Arsenault, and Delima Gaudet, and his sons-in-law Neil MacFarlane, Louis Young, and Dave Greenway.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for funeral mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment to take place later in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Urban's memory to St. John the Baptist Church Restoration Fund would be greatly appreciated. In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
