Obituary of McNeill, Daniel " Tanton "
?The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Monday , March 12th , 2007 of Daniel Tanton McNeill of St. Eleanors, aged 87 years. Veteran of the Second World War. Tanton was born on November 14th , 1919 in Summerside , P.E.I. to his parents, the late Daniel & Pearl ( nee Tamlyn ) McNeill.
Beloved husband of Monica ( nee O'Keefe ) McNeill. Loving father of Michael ( Michele ) of Orleans, Ont.; James ( Connie ) of Ch'town ; Anne ( Steve ) Gallant of Perth, Ont.; Elizabeth ( Clint ) Morrison of S'side ; Jane ( Walid ) Haddad of Ottawa, Ont ; Miriam ( Richard ) Bisson of Arnprior, Ont. ; Susan ( Phillip ) Mundy of S'side ; Philip ( Jaylene ) of Ladner, B.C. ; Alicia ( Howard ) Eakins of Lower Sackville, N.S.; and Peter ( Christine ) of St. Eleanors. Also lovingly remembered by his very special 23 grandchildren. Survived by his sisters & brothers : Margaret Cooke of S'side ; Dr. Hubert ( Christine ) of S'side ; Gerald ( Florence ) of S'side ; Edward ( Wilma ) of Sarnia, Ont.; and Dorothy McNeill of Etobicoke, Ont..
Besides his parents, Tanton was predeceased by his grandson Philip Eakins, his brothers Francis, Ronald & John and his sisters Gertrude Mullins, Pearl Murphy and Anita Manion.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place at a later date in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Tanton's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. .
Comrades of the George R. Pearkes,Branch # 5, Royal Canadian Legion , Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance on Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
