Obituary of Gallant, Aubrey "Pooch" Lawrence
The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, on Friday, March 16th, 2007 of Aubrey 'Pooch' Lawrence Gallant of 20 Pope Road,Summerside, aged 78 years. Veteran of the Second World War. Aubrey was born in Summerside on August 10, 1928, to his late parents Rennie and Mary ( Gaudet ) Gallant.
Survived by his beloved wife Myrtle ( Grady ) Gallant, his step-children John ( Connie ) Gallant of St. Eleanors and Belinda ( Grant ) Beairsto of Kensington, Thomas 'Tucker' Biggar, Jeff ( Jenny ) Biggar and Barry ( Margo ) Biggar all of S'Side and Everett Biggar of Ch'town . A brother-in-law Major ( Dolores ) Grady of S'side, nephew Jonathan Gallant of Charlottetown and step-nephew Major-Paul Grady of Summerside, also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his first wife Florence Biggar, a sister Vernita Gallant and a step-son Barney Biggar.
As per Aubrey's wishes his body has been donated to Dalhousie University, Halifax, N.S.. A memorial service will be held at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, on Saturday, March 24th at 2:00 P.M.. Comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 5, Summerside will hold a service of remembrance at the Funeral Home at 1:45 P.M. for their late comrade. ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
