?McQuaid: The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Sunday, June 17th , 2007 of John 'Alfred' McQuaid CD of 139 Walker Ave. Summerside and formerly of Kensington, aged 80 years. Alfred was born on July 2nd , 1926 in Alberton, P.E.I. to his parents, the late John & Adelaide ( nee McNally ) McQuaid. Beloved husband of Mary ( nee Reid ) McQuaid and loving father of Kathy, Kensington, John (Marilyn), Kensington, Paula ( Michael Picketts), Spring Brook, Maureen, Halifax, Mary Carmel (Michael Nielsen), Cornwall, Peggy (Gary Champion), Kensington, Joanne (Garth Cole) Darnley, and Michael (Veronica), Florida. Also lovingly remembered by his 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. Survived by his sisters, Alice Hunt, Calgary, Alta. and Peggy (Syd) Spilsbury, Victoria B.C. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ellen Reid, Barrie On., Kay Hennessey, Ch'town, Brendan and Louise Reid, Stanley Bridge, Aline Reid, Ch'town, Doreen Reid, Ch'town. Vincent Handrahan, Kensington, Teresa McQuaid, Hamilton, On. and Joan McQuaid, Brooks Alta. Besides his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his sisters: Mary O'Malley, Laura Inverarity, Lucille Inverarity, Marion Handrahan and by his brothers Gerald, Frank, Mark, Jimmy and Lawrence. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday, then to St. Mary's Church, Indian River for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Interment to take place in church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alfred's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Comrades of Royal Canadian Legion # 9 Kensington will hold a service of remembrance at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home for their late comrade.
