Obituary of Hickey, Paul Reginald
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Saturday, October 13th, 2007 of Paul Reginald Hickey of Summerside and formerly of Darnley, P.E.I. aged 68 years. Paul was born in Darnley, P.E.I. on September 17, 1939 to his parents, the late Clarence & Hilda ( nee Smith ) Hickey.
Beloved husband of Doreen ( nee Perry ) Hickey and loving father of Cheryl ( Barry ) Doyle of Greenwood, N.S., Peter of Dartmouth,N.S.,Richard ( Vina ) of Saint John, N.B. and Lisa ( Jack ) Gill of Kingston, On.. Also lovingly remembered by his 6 grandchildren Jonathan, Adam, Chelsea, Jacob, Nathaniel & Ethan and many nieces & nephews. Survived by his brother Gerald Hickey of London, On. and his sisters Miriam Johnston of S'side and Anna ( Reuben ) Doyle of Ottawa, On..
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday , October 16th , then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Paul's memory to the P.E.I. Lung Association or to St. Paul's Church Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
