Obituary of Mullins, James " Jim " Alexander
The death occurred peacefully & surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital , Summerside on Friday, March 28th ,2008 of James 'Jim' Alexander Mullins of Summerside, aged 64 years. Jim was born in Summerside, P.E.I. on March 10th , 1944 to his late parents , James & Gertrude ( nee McNeill ) Mullins.
Beloved husband of Joanne ( nee Poirier )Mullins and loving father of Gordie ( Karen ) of Emerald, Michelle of Ch'town, James ( Christine ) of S'side & Kim Mullins ( Blair Sheppard ) of S'side. Also lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren Darian, Ashley, Olivia & Spencer Mullins along with Breanna & Lauren Sheppard and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins. Survived by his brothers Ron ( Pat ) of S'side, Danny ( Barb ) of S'side & Sandy ( Peggy ) MacDonald of St. John , N.B. , his brothers & sisters-in-law John ( Margaret ) Poirier of St. Paul, Minnesota, Robert ( Simone ) Poirier of S'side & Shirley Poirier of Labrador City, Nfld.
Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his mother-in-law Irene Poirier & brother-in-laws Louis & Aurele Poirier.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, April 1st, 2008 then to St. Paul's Church , Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Jim's memory to the Prince County Hospice Association , the P.E.I. Lung Association or the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
Visiting hours on Monday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Members of the George R. Pearks, Branch # 5, Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:45 p.m.. On line condolences may be made at epfuneral@pei.aibn.com.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
