Obituary of Gallant, Alban Joseph
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, September 7th , 2008 of Alban Joseph Gallant of Summerside , aged 85 years. Veteran of the Second World War. Alban was born in Summerside on October 2nd, 1922, to his late parents Andrew & Josephine Gallant.
Beloved husband of Uneeda (nee Arsenault) Gallant & loving father of Betty Doucette of Ch'town, Ron of Toronto, On., David (Cindy) of St. Nicholas, & Stephen of S'Side. Also lovingly remembered by his 10 grandchildren , 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Besides his parents, Alban was predeceased by his sisters Evelyn (Cyrus)Arsenault, Bertha (James) Luce & brothers Leonard & Francis and by his son-in-law Alan Doucette.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home , 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday, September 10th , 2008 for funeral mass at St. Paul's Church , Summerside at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery.
Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m.. Comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #5,Summerside will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 6:45 P.M. for their late comrade. Memorial donations in Alban's memory to P.E.I. Lung Association, would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
