Obituary of DeCoste, Joseph Augustine " Gus "
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital,Summerside on Friday, October 10th, 2008 of Joseph Augustine 'Gus' DeCoste of Summerside and formerly of St. Eleanors , P.E.I. ,aged 90 years. Veteran of World War II. Gus was born on July 15th , 1918 in Petit de Grat , N.S. to his late parents, John & Obeline ( nee DesRoches ) DeCoste.
Beloved husband of the late Rose ( nee Richard ) DeCoste and loving father of Albert ( Sheila ) of Petawawa, On. , Ronald ( Linda ) of Edmonton, Ab., Wayne( Erin ) , Louie ( Dixie ) and son-in-law Eric Rogerson all of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Survived by his sister Mary ( Steve ) Kovacs of Winnipeg, Man.and his sister-in-law Kate Bernard of Miscouche.
Besides his wife & parents, Gus was predeceased by his daughter Shirley Rogerson, his sister Angie Doucette, his brothers Louie , John , Charles & Alfred, his sisters-in-law Lena, Laura & Lucy DeCoste and his brother-in-law Wilfred Doucette.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, October 14th for funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery,S'side. Memorial donations in Gus' memory to the Prince County Hospice Association would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday evening only , 7 - 9 p.m. .
Comrades of the George R. Pearkes, V.C. Branch # 5, Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:45 p.m. .

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
