Obituary of Gallant, Mary " Irene "
?The death occurred peacefully & surrounded by her loving family at the Perrin's Clinton View Lodge , Clinton on Sunday, November 2nd,2008 of Mary 'Irene' Gallant ( nee Arsenault ) of Summerside , P.E.I. ,aged 96 years. Irene was born on January 28th , 1912 in Egmont Bay , P.E.I. to her late parents Tim & Loretta Arsenault.
Beloved wife the late Fred ( Holman ) Gallant and loving mother of Ernie ( June ) of Summerside . Also lovingly remembered by her 4 grandchildren , her 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandaughter along with several nieces & nephews. Survived by her sister Corinne Arsenault of S'side.
Besides her parents and her husband, Irene was predeceased by her son Allan ( Yip ), her brothers: Ernest, Leo, Leonard & Sid and her sisters: Exineina, Madeline, Rita, Aldea, & Bella.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, Nov. 4th then to St. Paul's Church, S'side for funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment in the church cemetery.
Visiting hours on Monday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. .
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Irene's memory to Digital Mammography Unit of the Prince County Hospital or Perrin's Clinton View Lodge Equipment Fund would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
