Obituary of Horne, Arnold Owen
The death occurred peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital,Moncton , N.B. on Friday, April 17th , 2009 of Arnold Owen Horne of Summerside, aged 86 years. Veteran of World War II . Arnold was born on November 26th,1922 in Unionvale , P.E.I. to his late parents, Allison & Ruby ( nee Gay ) Horne.
Beloved husband of Pearl ( nee MacArthur ) Horne and loving father of Lurlean ( Robert ) Palmer of S'side. Also lovingly remembered by his grandsons Christopher ( TerriLynn ) & Jeffery Palmer of S'side, his sister Lurla ( Sonny ) Huestis of S'side, his sister-in-law Shirley (Rev. Harry ) Waugh of Hartland , N.B.,his brother-in-law William Moir of Orlando, Florida , his nieces Darla, Heidi & Marilyn & his nephews Bruce & Mark & Darren.
Besides his parents, Arnold was predeceased by his sister Liane Moir.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, April 21st , then to the Central Street Christian Church, Summerside for funeral service at 2:00 p.m.. Interment to take place in People's Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Memorial donations in Arnold's memory to the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of P.E.I. would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. .
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance for their late comrade at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:45 p.m. .
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
