Obituary of MacLean, Kenneth MacGregor
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital,Summerside on Thursday, April 23rd, 2009 of Kenneth MacGregor MacLean of Summerside & formerly of Lot 16 in his 91st year. Ken was born on June 23rd ,1918 in Central Lot 16 to his late parents Roy & Isabel ( MacGregor ) MacLean.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary ( Marchbank ) MacLean & twin daughters Gloria MacLean of Australia & Gail Archibald of New Minas, N.S. & son Roy at home. Also lovingly remembered by sister Marjorie Underwood of Halifax, N.S.,sister-in-law Jean Burch of Charlottetown , son-in-law Dr. David Large of Port Joli, N.S., aunt Doris Carr of St. Eleanors , grandchildren Peter ( Deidre ) Large of Waterloo, On., Phillip ( Nancy ) Large of Toronto, On., Adam MacLean of Toronto, On., 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Besides his parents, Ken was predeceased by daughter Marilyn Large, sister Gwen MacNutt & brother Donald MacLean.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Sunday, April 26th , 2009 then to Lot 16 United Church for funeral service at 3:00 p.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ken's memory to Lot 16 United Church Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice would be greatly accepted.
Visiting hours on Saturday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. .
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
