Obituary of Sonier, Joseph " Joe " Godfrey
The death occurred peacefully at Henderson Hospital, Hamilton, On. on Monday, July 13, 2009 of Joseph { Joe } Godfrey Sonier of Hamilton On. and formerly of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 61 years. Joe was born in Summerside on September 17, 1947 to his late parents Ervan & Ruby (nee Grady) Sonier.
Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Arsenault) Sonier. Loving father of Fabian (Mary), Darren (Diana) & Donny (Rosalynne) all of Hamilton, On.. Also lovingly remembered by his 9 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Survived by his brothers & sisters: Ervan, Marlene (Dennis) Gaudet, Gloria (Edwin) MacIntyre, Linda (Yves) Leonard & Don (Lynn) all of Summerside & his sisters & brothers-in-law:Betty Murphy (Don), Shirley Dickinson, Velda Harris (Wensel), Ruby Jurkowski (Joe), Douglas Arsenault (Bonnie), David Arsenault, Judy Gaudet (Danny), Sally Arsenault (Norbert), Blair Arsenault (Norma), Debra Sobey (Richard) & Rodney Arsenault (Jane).
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his brothers-in-law: Lorne, Ralph, Harvey & Bobby Arsenault. Following cremation, a private memorial service will be held in Hamilton, On.. Memorial donations in Joe's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly accepted and can be made at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Rd. Summerside.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
