Obituary of DesRoches, Lucy
The death occurred peacefully at Andrews Lodge, Summerside, P.E.I. on Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 of Lucy DesRoches ( nee Pitre), formerly of Miscouche, aged 93 years. Lucy was born on October 27th , 1919 in Palmer Road, P.E.I. to her late parents Maxime and Maude ( nee Blanchard ) Pitre.
Beloved wife of the late Anthony DesRoches and loving mother of Lucille ( Dave ) Boadway of ON., Rita ( Ted ) Gallant of Clermont, Rena ( Bill ) Munro of Kensington, Zita ( Urvin ) Arsenault of ON., Linda ( Ron ) Flahaven and Joyce ( Mike ) Leaman all of N.S., Brenda ( Ray ) Shields of French River, Brian ( Phyllis ) of Summerside, John ( Yvonne ) and Darlene Forster all of ON. and Arlene ( Doug ) Gallant of Miscouche. Also lovingly remembered by 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, brother-in-law William Poirier of Miscouche and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Lucy was predeceased by her two children Ruby and Dennis in infancy and her sisters : Bernie ( Norman ) Gillis, Ethel ( Edmond ) DesRoches, Emily ( Hillary ) Desroches and Rita ( Joe ) Arsenault.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Friday, December 21st, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for a funeral mass at 10.30 A.M.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Donation's in Lucy's memory to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
