Obituary of Newson, Carlyle " Carl " Arthur
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at his late residence on Monday, April 22nd, 2013 of Carlyle " Carl " Arthur Newson of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 74 years. Carl spent over 40 years with the Summerside Police Department until he retired in January, 2000. He was born on May 1st , 1938 in Inkerman, P.E.I. to his late parents Arthur and Margaret ( nee Matheson ) Newson.
Beloved husband of Hazel ( nee Parkman ) Newson and loving father of Carla ( Greg ) Burgess and Stewart Newson, all of Halifax, N.S.. Also lovingly remembered by his 4 grandchildren : Carly Burgess, Owen, Parker and Tyler Newson. Survived by his brother Deryl ( Carol Ann ) Newson and his sister Arlene ( Gordon ) Kent, all of Summerside.
Besides his parents, Carl was predeceased by his sister Janet Newson. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday, April 27th , then to Trinity United Church, Summerside for a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. . Interment to take place in People's Cemetery , Summerside. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carl's memory to the M.S. Society or East Prince Palliative Home Care would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Friday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m..

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
