Obituary of Chaisson, Joseph " Raymond "
The death occurred at the Q.E. II Hospital. Halifax, N.S. on Saturday, May 18th , 2013 of Joseph " Raymond " Chaisson of Miscouche, P.E.I., aged 67 years. Raymond was born on May 19th , 1945 in St. Edwards, P.E.I. to his late parents Alyre and Sarah ( nee Gaudet ) Chaisson.
Beloved common law husband of Phyllis Cormier and loving father of Raymond Jr. of Summerside, Peter ( Jenny ) of Kensington, Bernadette Perry and Carol Walfield both of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by the following brothers and sisters : Emily ( Harry ) McCoubrey, Roger ( Lillian ), Jean ( Pat ) Doucette, Dolores ( Major ) Grady, Leslie, Ronnie, Lionel ( Charlene ) all of Summerside, Betty ( Allan ) Martin of Ottawa, ON. and Anna ( Samuel ) Smith of Breadalbane.
Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his brothers Joseph and Leo in infancy, his brother Jimmy and sister-in-law Linda Chaisson.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday, May 22nd , then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Raymond's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Funeral Expense Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
