Obituary of Henwood, Michael " Mike " Alan
The death occurred suddenly in Fort McMurray, Alberta on Tuesday, December 31st , 2013 of Michael Alan Henwood of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 55 years. Beloved son of the late Anita and Earl Henwood.
Left to mourn his loss are his wife Vicki (nee Ramsay), son Ryan Henwood, daughters Sarah Henwood and Melissa MacDonald (Kirk) and his little buddy Grandson Ethan MacDonald; his brother James Henwood (Angela) and numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Also lovingly remembered by his brothers in-law; Claude (Sharon), Ken (Vivian), sisters in-law; Peggy Young, Eunice (George) Wall, Helen (Preston) Murphy, Brenda Simmons, Ann Ramsay, Eleanor (Ray) Wakelin, Barb (John) Stewart, Marilyn Olson and Pauline Gallant (Allison).
Besides his parents, Mike was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Amos and Margaret Ramsay.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside where the funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m.. Interment to take place in People's Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. In lieu of flowers , memorial donations in Mike's memory to a trust fund for his beloved daughter Sarah would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday evening only, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
