Obituary of van der Velden, Johanna Maria Theresa
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside , P.E.I. on Friday , February 7th , 2014 of Johanna Maria Theresa (nee Vissers) van der Velden of Summerside, P.E.I. and formerly of Shamrock, P.E.I. aged 87 years. Johanna was born in Veghel, Holland to her late parents Antonius and Anna Maria (nee van Rijbroek) Vissers.
Beloved wife of the late Harry van der Velden and loving mother of Mary (Dale) of Acme, AB.,Tony (Virginia) of Shamrock, John (Sandra) of Fort McMurray, AB., Frank (Marcella) of Chestermere, AB., Rita (Reg) Kelly of Okotoks, AB., Paul (Rhonda) of Summerside, Annette (Vance) Griffin of Shamrock, Andre (Anna) of Riverview, NB. and Edward (Michelle) of Shamrock. Also lovingly remembered by 24 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by her sisters Martina vander Berg and Mariatje "Miet" vande Ven.
Besides her parents and husband, Johanna was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Anna, Antoon, Bert, Harrie, Berta, Anna Maria (in infancy), Johan, Jas, Arnold, Antje, Jan, Gerard and Piet.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Wednesday, February 12th, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Johanna's memory to the Heart and Stoke Foundation or St. Paul's Cemetery fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Members of St. Paul's Church C.W.L., Summerside will hold a prayer service on Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home at 3:45 p.m.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
