Obituary of Arsenault, Irene Mary
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Sunday, February 9th, 2014 of Irene Mary Arsenault (nee Gallant) of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 86 years. Irene was born on February 3rd, 1928 in Summerside to her late parents Emanuel and Gertrude Gallant.
Beloved wife of the late Celestin Arsenault and loving mother of Robert (Brenda) of Summerside, Dale MacLeod (Burnell) of Summerside, Danny (Joan) of Miscouche, Ricky (Darlene) of Summerside and Linus (Connie) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her 5 grandchildren Jessica, Chance, Cody, Ryan and Michelle, her 3 great-grandchildren Dalton, Chasity and Landon, her sister-in-law Lorraine Gallant of Summerside and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, Irene was predeceased by her son Michael, her granddaughter Crystal MacLeod, her brother Clarence Gallant and sisters Tina Stanley (Russell), Marguerite Richard (Fred), Zita MacKinnon (Howard) and Rita Arsenault (Edmond).
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Thursday, February 13th, for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m.. Interment to take place in St. Paul's Church Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Irene's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Summerset Manor Equipment Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday evening only, 7 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
