Obituary of MacKinnon, Joyce Elsie
Joyce Elsie (nee Edwards) MacKinnon passed away peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Saturday, July 2, 2022, aged 86 years. Joyce was born in Hunter River, PEI to the late David & Elsie (nee Spence) Edwards.
Beloved wife of the late James MacKinnon and mother to Trevor (Carol) MacKinnon. Survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Ewen (Florence) MacKinnon, Leland (Wilma) MacKinnon and Donald Fyfe, her nieces, nephews, cousins, special niece Gwenneth Wyand and good friend and neighbour Louise DesRoches.
Predeceased by her siblings Jean (Elmer) MacDonald, Evelyn (Russell) Smith, Vivian Fyfe, parents-in-law George & Kate MacKinnon, daughter-in-law Sherry MacKinnon, brothers & sisters-in-law Velma MacKinnon, Burleigh (Della) MacKinnon, Audrey (Aldrus) Cameron and Brenda in infancy.
Joyce loved spending time with her many friends, playing cards, watching curling, and making her nightly phone calls.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside where a funeral service with her close family and friends will be held at the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow in the People's Cemetery, Summerside. In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
