Obituary of DesRoches, Percy Joseph
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021 of "Percy" Joseph DesRoches of Summerside and formerly of Miscouche, P.E.I., Veteran of World War II, aged 100 years. Percy was born in Miscouche, P.E.I. to the late Thomas and Clementine (Fougere) DesRoches.
Beloved husband of Margaret (Robblee) DesRoches and loving father of Keith (Judy), Eddie, Terry Jamieson, Wilma (Paul) Banks, Tommy (Charlene), Dougie (Arlene Millar), Jimmy (Tracey), Debi (Ken) Giles, Carol DesRoches, Billy (Gail), Cindy (Andy) Donaldson and Mark. Also lovingly remembered by his 27 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his daughter Dale (Gerald) Oxley, sons Robbie and Carl son-in-law Alfie Couch, granddaughter Lena Oxley, great grandson Luc Richard, brothers and sisters Tillie (Louis) Perry, Dan, Lillian (Wesley) Gallant, Clara (Whitney) Rushton, George (Irene) and Urban.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. Due to Covid 19 restrictions a private funeral mass for family and friends will be held in St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche by invitation. Interment to take place in the church cemetery on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at 2:15 p.m.for anyone to attend. Donations in Percy's memory can be made directly to the Summerset Manor. By personal request there will be no visiting hours.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
