Obituary of Perry, Joseph "Joe"
It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Joseph Alyre Perry on Saturday Nov. 27, 2021 at the age of 94 years.
Joe was born at Fortune Cove where he worked on the family farm and as a young man pursued a career as an auto mechanic. In 1952, Joe married Bea and in 1957 Joe enlisted in the RCAF, and was posted to Downsview, Ontario where they lived for 9 years. They were posted back to P.E.I. where Bea and Joe bought a farm and raised their family. Joe retired as a Master Corporal after 20 years. Once Joe found his roots in St. Eleanor's, he was generous with his time and his compassion for helping others. Many friends and neighbours gave thanks for Joe's kindness. Joe was very active in the community and spent countless hours volunteering and supporting many organizations. He was a member of the St. Eleanor's Fire Dept., and worked on various committees for the village. He was a working member of the St. Eleanor's Lion's Club and when Miscouche Legion needed a new location and building, Joe was the President and the building was completed. Meals on Wheels was in need of drivers and Joe volunteered, he so enjoyed dropping off meals and visiting with clients.
Joe treasured nothing better than spending time with family and friends. Whether it was meeting with his buddies or organizing a chicken/meat raffle, he would always come home with a good story and perhaps a few prizes. Bea never knew what she would find in the refrigerator after a night of cards. Many nights were spent at our kitchen table playing crib or scat, for the big price of a dollar.
Joe is survived by his children, Elsie (Peter) O'Gorman and Blair (Wendy) Perry, his grandchildren Stephanie (Ryan) Mendes, Meghan (Kevin) Hayes, Ryan (Julie) Jackson, Juliann O'Gorman, Chad Perry, Alicia (Gary) Perry, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Joe is predeceased by Beatrice his wife of 61 years and his sons Allan (Infancy) and Roland and by his daughter Julia Jackson.
The funeral will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Due to Covid restrictions, attendance is by invitation only. If you would like to attend, please private message a family member. Interment for family member will follow.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
