Irma Lorraine Walsh Obituary
On August 27, 2026, our beautiful, Irma Lorraine Walsh (née Sexton), was called home to be with her Saviour.
Daughter of the late Art and Doris (Leger) Sexton. Irma was the beloved mother of Wanda (Michael) Facey and Stepson Dennis (Judianne) Luck. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Brooke Magee, Cobe Facey, Caden Facey, and Karlee Facey, and a cherished step-grandmother to Michelle (Bruce) Luck, Sean (Kerri) Luck, Kristian (Hoang) Luck, and Matthew (Hilary) Luck.
Irma is survived by her brothers Dean, Roger, and Gerard (Sandra) Sexton; sister Joy (Paul) Carragher; sisters-in-law Sheila and Yvonne Sexton; brother-in-law John DesRoches, stepson Terry Walsh; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Stuart Luck (2001); her second husband, Louis Walsh (2017); brothers Ralph and Andrew Sexton; sister Bernadette Desroches; nephew Darren; nieces Lorene and Lynne; and stepson David Walsh.
And then there was Beau—her beautiful cat and, without a doubt, the number one man in her life. Beau was loved beyond words and was her constant companion.
How do you put into words the loss of someone like Irma? She was not someone you simply knew. She was someone you felt. Her laugh, her stories, her honesty, her hugs, her faith, her dancing, and that wonderful, completely unfiltered personality filled every room she entered.
Irma had a heart that was simply made for giving. She loved to feed everyone, and although she lived alone, her cupboards and freezer were always overflowing with food—because you never knew who might stop by, and there was always enough to share. She had the kind of laugh that could make everyone else laugh too. And when she really got going, she would have to cross her legs so she wouldn't “pee her pants.” Those who knew her can probably hear that laugh right now.
Her cup was always half full. No matter how difficult a situation was, Irma could find something positive in it. She lived authentically, and in a way that made everyone around her want to be a little more like her. She was genuine, honest, funny, stubborn, loving, and completely herself. She was always up for an adventure. She was the life of the party, the person who could make an ordinary gathering unforgettable. She could do the twist like nobody else, she could play the guitar, and she always believed she could sing—and in her heart, that's all that mattered!
Beneath all that laughter and personality was a woman with an incredibly strong faith. Irma knew that this life was not the end. She believed with all her heart that she would one day be with her Saviour, and that faith gave her peace. While our hearts are broken that she is no longer here, we can find comfort knowing that she is now exactly where she believed she was going. Irma adored her daughter and her grandchildren. They were her world, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. She made memories with them right up until her precious heart could go no further. Those memories—every laugh, every story, every meal, every adventure, every hug—will now become some of the most precious treasures they carry with them.
There will be an emptiness now where Irma's laughter used to be. There will be moments when we reach for the phone to call her, hear a song that reminds us of her, see someone dancing, or find ourselves laughing so hard we have to cross our legs—and for just a moment, it will feel like she's right there again. And perhaps that's how Irma will stay with us. In the laughter. In the music. In the dancing. In the stories that will be told over and over again. In the full cupboards and freezers we will think of with a smile. And the courage to find something good when life gets hard. In the freedom to be completely and unapologetically ourselves. And most of all, in the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Irma was one of a kind. There will never be another quite like her. She loved fiercely, laughed hysterically, lived authentically, and left her mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Rest peacefully, Mom, Nanny, Sister, Aunt, Friend. Keep dancing. Keep singing. Keep laughing. We will carry you in our hearts until we see you again. You were loved more than words could ever say, and you will be missed more than you will ever know. Until we meet again. ❤️
The family wishes to give special mention and thanks to The Prince County Hospital nurses and doctors who cared so lovingly for Irma. In lieu of donations please do an act of kindness in her memory.. Kindness was who Irma was and it would be her wish to see more kindness in this world.
