Lucy Mary Jacqueline Delaney Obituary
~ WHERE THERE IS DEEP GRIEF THERE WAS GREAT LOVE.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lucy Mary Jaqueline (nee MacLeod) Delaney, surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PEI on Thursday August 27th, 2026, aged 87 years. Lucy was born in Albany, PEI to the late George Warren and Murielle MacLeod.
Beloved wife of the late Blair Delaney and loving mother of Ricky (deceased), Vicky (deceased), Randy (deceased), Tracy, and Stacy. She was a special nan and nanny to her grandchildren Dawn (Jules), Cory, Karlii (Stratton), Brae and Kali (Ty), great grandchildren Rikki (Keegan), Taia, Abi, Dylan, great great grandson Cove and special family member Blair.
Survived by her siblings Albert (Eileen), Archie (Regina), Linda (Brian) Booth, Donna (Donnie) Bell and Joan Hunter and many nieces and nephews. Lucy dearly loved her many cherished friends who were chosen family.
Predeceased by her brothers Leo and Llyod MacLeod, as well as special brother-in-law Bev Delaney.
Lucy was the heart of her family, serving as a constant pillar of strength, love, and inspiration. She loved the members of her family deeply and never hesitated to express how much they meant to her, right until the very end.
Lucy held a special place in her heart for the days she spent growing up in Albany. She loved reminiscing about the good old days and could tell her stories down to the very last detail, bringing those memories to life for everyone around her. She married the love of her life, Blair Delaney, and often described their years spent together as the happiest days of her life, especially the time they spent on Morningside Avenue.
Lucy was always up for a good time. Her bright eyes, contagious laughter, and energetic spirit drew people to her and brought joy wherever she went. She had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel welcome, loved, and cared for.
Over the course of her life, she was faced with many challenges, yet she met each one with grace, dignity, and incredible strength. She was a caregiver by nature, dedicating her life to caring for others, both personally and professionally. Even in her final days, she remained determined to take care of those around her, putting their needs before her own. She showed tremendous strength as she fought to see her great-great grandchild, Cove, come into the world when he was needed most.
“A limb has fallen from the family tree, that says grieve not from me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life.
I lived while I was strong.”
To our mom, nan, nanny, we love you to the moon and back.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Rd. Summerside. A private funeral service will be held. Donations in Lucy's memory can be made directly to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Lucy's Life will be held at a later date.
