The death occurred peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Thursday, August 20th, 2026 of Christine Mary (Baker) McNeill of Summerside, PEI, aged 96 years. Christine was born on Herman's Island, Lunenburg County, NS. to her late parents Earl and Lily (Westhaver) Baker.  

Beloved wife of the late Dr. Hubert B. McNeill and loving mother of Sandra (Joe) Ambrose, Monica (Dennis), Stephen (Lesley), Robert (Sandra), Johnny (Norma), Carolyn (Wayne), and Cynthia. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy McNeill, daughter-in-law Karen Muller, multiple nieces and nephews, 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, the youngest of whom was born on the day of her passing.

Predeceased by her parents, her husband Hubert, her son Richard Thomas, and all six of her brothers Robert (WWII), Lawrence, Gilbert, Carl, Vincent and Bernard.

Christine supported her husband Hubert throughout their 68-year marriage in his busy medical, business and political careers. She was an accomplished oil painter, knitter, quilter, and rug hooker as well as an excellent gardener, cook and baker. Family was her first love and highest priority, and she leaves her children and grandchildren with many happy memories of the individual time spent with each of them and the loving attention she gave them.  

Special thanks to the High Street neighbours for their many kindnesses, and to Christine's loving and dedicated caregivers who made it possible for her to remain at home until the end. 

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Monday, August 24, 2026, for visitation from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m., with funeral service to follow in chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place at a later date. Donations in Christine's memory can be made directly to the United Baptist Church in Mahone Bay.
