Gary Cooper McLure Obituary
The death occurred at Prince County Hospital, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, of Gary Cooper McLure of Hampton, PE, aged 80 years. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Rose McLure (nee Cannon) and loving step-father of Karen MacVittie (Dan MacLean).
Gary will be remembered by many nieces and nephews; and countless friends, neighbours and co-workers, that offered their support and kindness over the years.
Gary is predeceased by his late parents, William and Ethel McLure, and his nine brothers and three sisters, and many in-laws.
Gary was always offering a helping hand in his community, and was a strong voice for the important matters that made a difference; always looking to support great causes. Being a friend to Gary came easy with his great humor and outlook on life. Complaints were rare and laughs were plentiful in his great company and he will be missed by all those privilieged to know him.
The family would like to extend gratitude to all the nurses and doctors involved in Gary's care at Saint John Regional Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Prince County Hospital, and for all the compassionate care received over the last several months.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday August 12, 2026. By personal request there will be no visitation or funeral. Interment to take place in People's Cemetery, Crapaud at 1:00 p.m. Donations in Gary's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
