The death occurred peacefully with family at his side, at Prince County Hospital, on Sunday, July 19, 2026, of "Corey" Joseph Gerard Gallant, aged 54 years, of Summerside, PE, to his late father, Gerard Gallant; late mother, Genevieve Johnston; and late step-mother, Florence Beaton (nee Campbell). 

Corey is survived by his step-brother, Andy Beaton; and step-sisters, Jane (Russell) O'Brien, and Peggy (Pat) Bernard.

He will be lovingly remembered by his uncle, Roy Johnston and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, and step-mother, Corey is predeceased by his step-sister, Donna (Gary - deceased) Fergurson; and step-brother, David Beaton, along with numerous aunts and uncles. 

Corey will be well remembered for his years at Community Connections Inc., delivering flyers door to door. He had the greatest greetings and hand shakes for all that came to know his great, kind-hearted spirit.  Corey had an incredible memory, and forgot no detail or name.  One was always suprised at how great his recall was, with calling one by first name and asking of their family members, and life, remembering all the important things shared in conversation with him, even years later when one would meet him again. You met him once and he became someone you would always remember  Corey was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and would proudly make it known.  He loved his music, especially the classic country tunes, with ability to  rhyme and recite the lyrics and artists of them all. 

The family would like to give special thanks to The Real Us, Corey's most recent home, for providing a wonderful, supportive environment.  Expression of gratitude to all the staff for the compassionate care received at Corey's care homes and Prince County Hospital, ICU department.  Additional mention to Corey's caregivers, Donnie and Linda Gallant (deceased) that took amazing care of Corey for seventeen years, providing him another place to call home.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Thursday, July 23, 2026, for visitation at 10:00  - 11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow in chapel at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery.  Donations in Corey's memory to Prince County Hospital, ICU department, would be greatly appreciated.
